Little Rock Woman Brutally Murdered by Neighbor, Who Also Attacked His Own Mother
A violent and tragic incident in Little Rock, Arkansas has left the community reeling after Mary Ann Hansen, a beloved local woman, was brutally murdered by a neighbor. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, also involved the neighbor assaulting his own mother, leaving her in critical condition.
According to a Facebook post shared by Eva Hansen, the daughter of the deceased, the family is still grappling with the horrific events that unfolded. Eva wrote on January 2, “Last night Stephan SJ James and I found out that our mother, Mary Ann, was tragically taken from us in a violent act. We are still trying to understand this situation, but we do know that the suspect was a neighbor, who also attacked his own mother. He was found by police, did not surrender, and is dead. His own mother is in critical condition last we heard. These are people we’ve known our whole lives.”
Mary Ann Hansen, a former music major at the University of Toledo, had lived in Little Rock for many years after moving to the area to continue her studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Clinton School of Public Service. She was a passionate theater enthusiast, performing in numerous musicals, including Oklahoma, and had been a familiar face in the local arts community.
Randy Eddy-McCain, who worked with Hansen on stage at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in the 1980s, paid tribute to her following her passing. “She was a wonderful person with a deep love for the arts, and her presence in our community will be greatly missed,” Eddy-McCain shared in a heartfelt statement.
The suspect, whose identity has not been fully revealed, was found by police after the brutal attack. Authorities reported that the suspect did not surrender and was fatally injured. His mother remains in critical condition as authorities continue to investigate the events leading up to the tragic violence.
The Little Rock community is in shock over the unthinkable loss of Mary Ann Hansen, and her family and friends are left to mourn a kind, talented, and vibrant woman whose life was taken far too soon.
