Tifton Police Arrest Man in Walmart Parking Lot Shooting Linked to Road Rage Incident
A 24-year-old Tifton man has been arrested in connection with a Sunday morning shooting in the parking lot of a Walmart in Tifton, Georgia, authorities said.
Officers with the Tifton Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 9:15 a.m. at the Walmart on Highway 82. Upon arrival, they found 42-year-old Keith King, a Tifton resident, with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body.
King was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center, where he is receiving medical treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
At the scene, police detained 24-year-old Robert G. Wright, also of Tifton, who is alleged to have fired the shots. Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a traffic-related confrontation that began with a near-collision at the intersection of Highway 82 and McCormick Drive.
According to police, King followed Wright to the Walmart parking lot after the incident. The confrontation escalated when King exited his vehicle and approached Wright’s car, at which point Wright allegedly produced a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking King.
Wright was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of:
- Aggravated Assault
- Aggravated Battery
He is currently being held at the Tift County Jail.
