Renowned Cybersecurity Expert Amit Yoran Passes Away
Amit Yoran, a visionary leader in the cybersecurity industry, has passed away on January 3, 2025, after serving as the Chairman and CEO of Tenable, Inc. since January 3, 2017.
Yoran’s illustrious career spanned over two decades, with notable accomplishments in both the public and private sectors. Born in the United States to Israeli immigrants, Yoran graduated from the United States Military Academy with a B.S. in computer science. He later earned an M.S. in computer security from George Washington University.
Yoran co-founded Riptech in 1998, which was later acquired by Symantec for $145 million in 2002. He also served as the Director of the National Cyber Security Division within the US Department of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2004.
Throughout his career, Yoran held various leadership positions, including CEO of In-Q-Tel, Netwitness, and President of RSA. In August 2023, he made headlines by exposing a zero-day vulnerability in Microsoft Azure, accusing the tech giant of putting its customers at risk.
Yoran is survived by his wife and three children, including a set of twins. His legacy in the cybersecurity industry will be remembered for his tireless efforts to protect and secure the digital world.
