Bourbon Street Attack Survivor Alexis Windham Shares Her Story, Seeks Support
Alexis Windham, a survivor of the New Year’s Day terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, is sharing her story and seeking community support as she recovers from the traumatic event.
In a statement posted on her GoFundMe page, Windham recounted the harrowing ordeal, which left multiple people dead and many others injured.
“I am a victim and a survivor of the New Orleans terrorist act where many lives were claimed,” she wrote. “I was shot in my foot and struck by a pickup truck during this horrific incident.”
Despite the trauma, Windham expressed profound gratitude for her survival, acknowledging the devastation she witnessed while seeking help.
“I am fortunate and grateful to be alive, especially after witnessing so many people who lost their lives as I made my way through the crowds to seek assistance,” she said.
The severity of her injuries has left Windham unable to work, creating significant financial challenges. She is seeking community support to cover medical expenses, housing costs, and childcare for her one-year-old daughter as she focuses on recovery.
“The funds raised will be used to support me and my daughter until I am fully recovered and able to return to work,” Windham explained. “Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.”
